Sixty percent of the mainstream food and beverage products sold by Nestlé – the world’s largest food company – fail to meet a “recognized definition of health.” That’s according to a Nestlé presentation prepared for the company’s senior executives and recently leaked to the Financial Times. The presentation also reported that 96 percent of the company’s non-coffee beverages did not meet the health definition, which is used by groups such as the Access to Nutrition Foundation. “We have made significant improvements to our products,” according to the presentation, but “our portfolio still underperforms against external definitions of health in a landscape where regulatory pressure and consumer demands are skyrocketing,”
