In the United States, the recommended dietary allowance for daily protein intake is 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight, or 56 grams for men and 46 grams for women. The most recent USDA survey showed that daily protein intake is 97 grams among men and 69 grams among women, with 64 percent of total protein intake coming from animal sources.
