By 2050, average U.S. life expectancy for all Americans is projected to be 3.7 years lower than it is today, due to the prevalence of overweight and obesity, according to a report published by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in 2019. Among the 51 countries included in the study, only Russia (3.9 years), Poland (3.9 years), and Mexico (4.2 years) are projected to have larger life expectancy declines than the United States.
