From 1975-2014, the number of obese men in the world increased from 34 million to 266 million, and the number of obese women increased from 71 million to 375 million, according to a study published in The Lancet in 2016. Since 2004, the number of obese women in the world has exceeded the number of underweight women. And since 2011, obese men have outnumbered underweight men.
