A review of the food and beverages depicted in the 250 top-grossing U.S. films from 1994-2018 found that 73 percent of the movies earned less healthy food nutrition ratings and 90 percent earned less healthy beverage ratings, based on the Nutrient Profile Index. (The foods appearing most often were snacks and sweets, such as baked goods, candy, and processed salty snacks.) The review, conducted by researchers at Stanford University, was published in the Journal of the Medical Association last month.
