Research published in 2010 revealed that less than 1 percent of U.S. medical schools’ lecture hours were being devoted to nutrition. And in a survey of 12,000 doctors conducted last year for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, just 15 percent of those surveyed said they feel “totally prepared” to offer nutritional guidance to their patients.
