In the United States, the average restaurant meal today is more than four times larger than it was in the 1950s. Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

From 1976-2016, the adult obesity rate in the United States rose from 12.2 percent to 36.2 percent. This was the largest absolute increase of any country in the world (except for a few small South Pacific island nations). Source: The World Health Organization
